Dr. Emon Kalyan Chowdhury

Dr. Emon Kalyan Chowdhury is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Accounting at Chittagong Independent University. Recently he has completed his PhD degree from the University of Chittagong on the topic “A Study on Stock Market Risk-Chittagong Stock Exchange Perspective”. He completed both BBA and MBA from the Department of Accounting, University of Chittagong in 2006 and 2007 with second and first position in order of merit respectively. He further studied MBA in Finance and Human Resource Management at MP Birla Institute of Management, University of Bangalore under the prestigious Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarship scheme in 2007-2009. He joined Premier University as a Lecturer in Accounting at the Faculty of Business Studies in 2009. During his teaching period, several remarkable research papers, business cases, and articles got published in different national and international peer reviewed journals and magazines. He successfully implemented a Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) as Sub-Project Manager during 2014-16. The project was jointly financed by The World Bank and the Govt. of Bangladesh, and monitored by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. Along with teaching responsibilities, he also served as head of Accounting Department in the Faculty of Business Studies and Assistant Proctor of Premier University. Dr. Chowdhury presented a paper entitled “Examining the Nature of Volatility of Chittagong Stock Exchange” at “Bangkok 25th International Conference on Business, Economics, Social Science, & Humanities-BESSH-2016” organized by Academic Forum in 2016 at Bangkok. Moreover, he presented a keynote paper entitled “Value Based Management: an approach to maximize shareholder value” at Continuing Professional Development Program organized by The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh in 2015. He is a regular reviewer of different national and international journals.
