Pahela Boishakh was celebrated by CIU students on April 14, 2015 to address the New Year with hopes for a better future and giving new thrust to the nation’s cultural heritage. The Independent University Cultural Club (IUCC) organized the program which was inaugurated by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Irshad Kamal Khan through the Mongol Shobhajatra with drumming along with the Club Coordinator Ms. Robaka Shamsher, Mr. Saifur Rahman, Mr. Rahat Bari Tooheen and the students around Jamal Khan Road. More than fifteen stalls were setup by the CIU students encircling the whole campus. Best Stall was selected and best looking Male & Female student with “Bangali Saj” were given prizes by the Faculty Members.
Baul songs, solo and group songs, folk music, dance, recitation, and band songs were the different attractions of the program. The presence of many ex-students made the event more colorful. Among the Faculty Members Proctor Engr. Rashid Chowdhury, Assistant Professor Sohel Mahmud, Nayeem Abdullah, Rifat Tasnim, Rajib Hassan, Kamruddin Parvez, Deputy Librarian Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Manager Admin Cumer Doyel Dey, Program Manager Abdul Bashet were also present at the occasion. IUCC Coordinator Robaka Shamsher & Co-Coordinator Mr. Amran Haroon conducted the program. The event was hosted by Reaz Ahmed and Badhon Das.
