What is ICT?

Information & Communication Technology (ICT) is an umbrella term used to encompass all rapidly emerging, evolving and converging computer, software, networking, telecommunications, Internet, programming and information systems technologies. Historically, many of these fields developed separately, in different companies, departments and R&D groups, and at different times. With rapid improvements in computer processing power, networking technology advances, programming interface improvements, widespread adoption of Internet Protocols, integration into organizational strategic operations, and improved workforce and user competencies, however, these fields are rapidly converging.

Career in ICT

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Industry is one of the fastest growing and changing fields. Technology is developing rapidly and new devices and systems are constantly being created to provide faster and more efficient methods for information and communication technology. Careers in the ICT field are in high demand and the industry is expected to grow. Professionals in ICT careers may work in commercial service sectors and ICT companies.

PGDICT Program in CIU

The PGDICT is a 1-year evening program approved by the Government and University Grant Commission (UGC) for graduates in any discipline on the principles and practice of Information and Communication Technology. The program will be conducted by the School of Engineering & Computer Science of Chittagong Independent University. The PGDICT program is offered mainly to the graduates who are willing to work in ICT domain or the graduates whose current or future career could be accelerated through advanced knowledge in ICT. The classes of the program will run four days a week from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm.

Total Degree Requirements:- 140 Credits

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements :-

  • At least a 4-year Bachelor Degree in any discipline with mathematics in HSC or equivalent level
  • At least a 3-year Bachelor Degree in any discipline plus one year professional experience in ICT sector with mathematics in HSC or equivalent level
  • Must not have a GPA less than 2.00 out of 5.00 or a third division or equivalent in any of the public examinations
