Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
The national education policy 2010 of Bangladesh requires the establishment of a National Accreditation council to ensure quality of the academic programs offered by all the public and private higher education institutions of the country. Establishment of quality assurance mechanism at the universities is the first step towards the formation of the proposed Accreditation Council which is why Quality Assurance Unit within the UGC’s organizational structure was created to oversee the whole mechanism. In its continuous effort to comply fully with the UGC’s policy and guidelines, Chittagong Independent University (CIU) has formed its Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in 2016 which has been functioning diligently since then to achieve its prescribed objectives which are to i) institutionalize the quality assurance culture in accordance with national QA guidelines and international practice; ii) develop, maintain and enhance quality of education and people’s perception in favor of the university and iii) build image of the university with confidence of the stakeholders ensuring transparency, accountability and good practices in all aspects of management. Formulation of the guidelines for quality assurance practices, self-assessment committees of all degree offering entities, team building workshop have all been completed in due time and process and currently self-assessment of various academic programs are going on in full swing which is expected to be completed within stipulated time.
