Preliminary rounds on 23 November began with inspiring arguments delivered by teams from SSE and SLASS. Participants demonstrated confidence, clarity, and logical depthโsetting the stage for an exciting finale.
The final round on 24 November featured a thrilling debate between the top two teams. After an intense exchange of ideas, Team Logic Ladies from SLASS โ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ข๐๐, ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง, and ๐๐๐ฌ๐ซ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ค๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ โ emerged as the ๐๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ข๐จ๐ง, proudly receiving the ๐๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ, ๐๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ฌ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐๐ข๐๐๐ญ๐๐ฌ in recognition of their exceptional performance. To foster the advancement of science, technology, and innovation, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, between the Institute of Information Technology and Industrial Research (IITIR) under the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) of Chittagong Independent University (CIU) and Al-Hidaayah International School (AHIS). The signing ceremony took place at the CIU Teachers-Students Centre (TSC).
The primary objective of this partnership is to cultivate scientific curiosity, technological literacy, and innovative thinking among young learners.
Under the terms of the MoU, both institutions will jointly organize robotics workshops, training programs, competitions, and technology fairs to provide students with practical learning experiences and help them develop the skills necessary to thrive in a technology-driven future.
On behalf of Al-Hidaayah International School, Lt. Col. (Retd.) G. M. Asaduzzaman, Chief Operating Officer, signed the agreement, while Dr. Md. Sajjatul Islam, Head of IITIR, signed on behalf of CIUโs School of Science and Engineering.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Aseef Iqbal, Dean, School of Science and Engineering; Ramisa Jahan, Acting Dean, School of Law; faculty members Dr. Rubell Sen Goopta, Atiqur Rahman, Habibur Rahaman, Samia Muntaha, and Ayman Iktedar; and representatives from Al-Hidaayah International School, including Payer Mohammad, Towhidul Alam, Mdm Jobayer Alam, AKM Nurul Absar, Rasibul Islam, and M. Moshtakim Zaman Prince, among others.
Representatives from both institutions expressed optimism that this collaboration will enhance studentsโ technological skills, foster a spirit of research and innovation, and inspire the next generation to become leaders in science and technology-driven development in Bangladesh.
Chittagong Independent University (CIU)ย hosted an engaging seminar titledย โThe Next Generation of Roboticsโ,ย organized by the CIU Robotics Club at the universityโs Reading Room (3502). The event aimed to explore the latest innovations in robotics, address ongoing challenges, and spark discussions on the future of this rapidly evolving field.
The event, led by keynote speakerย Dr. Aseef Iqbal, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, explored how robotics is evolving and will transform industries and improve our quality of life. Dr. Iqbal emphasized that the future of robotics is not just about technologyโitโs about the ideas that make new things possible.
Dr. Rubell Sen Gooptaย (Head of EEE) andย Dr. Md. Sajjatul Islamย (Head of CSE) also joined the discussion, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of robotics. They emphasized the importance of hands-on learning, problem-solving, and collaboration, which are essential skills for students to succeed in fields like AI and automation.
The event also marked the formal introduction of the 2025โ2026 CIU Robotics Club Committee, alongside a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing executive committee in recognition of their dedication and contributions. As a token of appreciation, the keynote speaker was honored with a crest, while each faculty member received a small gift in recognition of their invaluable support and encouragement to students through their presence. Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Atiqur Rahman (Assistant Professor), Mr. Habibur Rahaman (Lecturer), Ms. Samia Muntaha (Lecturer), and Mr. Ayman Iktidar (Lecturer), along with all other members of the SSE staff, for their invaluable presence and for contributing to the success of the program.
The whole event was hosted by one of the talented students of SSE, Jannatul Ferdous Neha. The seminar concluded with closing remarks, leaving participants inspired to carry forward the ideas and knowledge gained into their academic, professional, and personal pursuits. The event honored the spirit and sacrifices of the July Uprising. We were incredibly privileged to welcome two brave freedom fighters,ย Mohammad Hasan Sujonย andย Abdullah Al Shahid, who shared powerful and moving stories of courage, resistance, and enduring hope for a new Bangladesh. Their words served as a profound reminder of commitment, unity, and the indomitable human spirit.
The event began with a thoughtful opening speech byย Dr. Md. Sajjatul Islamย (Associate Professor & Head, CSE). Then,ย Al Nayem, a student from the EEE department, passionately spoke about his experiences and ongoing efforts to promote democratic values through awareness, education, and youth engagement.
A special video documentary was showcased, highlighting the immense sacrifices made for freedom during the July Uprisingโa truly poignant moment for all attendees. The program was beautifully complemented by a captivating cultural segment, presented by our talented students.
Dr. Aseef Iqbalย (Professor & Dean, SSE) delivered a visionary talk on building a modern Bangladesh. The discussion session highlighted the pivotal role and leadership of students during the July Uprising in their pursuit of justice and fundamental rights. Speakers emphasized that students, as informed and responsible citizens, must go beyond fulfilling civic duties by cultivating qualities such as self-reflection, discipline, accountability, and moral integrityโvirtues that are essential to becoming exemplary members of society and deserving of the highest recognition.
The memorial concluded with heartfelt student reflections, engaging open discussions, and a unified call to protect democratic values, promote civic responsibility, and preserve the enduring spirit of the July Movement.ย Dr. Rubell Sen Gooptaย (Associate Professor & Head, EEE) closed the event by highlighting the crucial role of technology and youth in national transformation. The entire program was hosted byย Imon Hore, a student of the CSE department.

We were honored by the presence of CIUโs Honorable Registrar, Ms. Anjuman Banu Lima, and Proctor, Professor Dr. Emon Kalyan Chowdhury. Their encouraging words and announcements of upcoming events added prestige and excitement to the evening. The Registrar also congratulated the deserving recipients of the Youngone CIU Academic Excellence Scholarship in Summer 2025 from SSE!

Today, June 25, 2025, marks a significant milestone for the School of Science & Engineering (SSE) at Chittagong Independent University (CIU). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) and SSE, CIU, signifying a strong commitment to collaborative innovation in science and technology education.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Aseef Iqbal, Dean of SSE, CIU, and Mr. Maherul Azam on behalf of BdOSN. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. M. M. Nurul Absar, the Vice Chancellor, Chittagong Independent University. Mr. Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN (joining online), and Ms. Anjuman Banu Lima, the Registrar of CIU witnessed the signing. This partnership aims to promote and organize the World Robot Olympiad โ Bangladesh (WROBd), while advancing robotics, engineering education, and innovation among the youth of Bangladesh. A symbolic gesture of this exciting new partnership was the presentation of a robotics kit from BdOSN to CIU, signaling the beginning of a dynamic collaboration. Under this collaboration, BdOSN will train a number of roboticists at CIU who, in turn, would act as mentors for the young and innovative minds in and around the city.
In his opening remark, Dr. Absar, VC, CIU thanked BdOSN for choosing CIU as their partner in Chittagong underscoring the commitment of CIU to empower youth through STEM education. He also expressed his interest in extending the scope of this collaboration encompassing similar events organized by BdOSN. Later, Mr. Hasan delivered a brief but insightful address highlighting the historical journey of WRO in Bangladesh and the significance and expected impact of this MoU with Chittagong Independent University.

SSE is thrilled to host an inspiring activation session on 26 th May 2025 for the World Robot Olympiad-Bangladesh at Chittagong Independent University! The director for the Robotics Program of Chattogram Division, Dr. Aseef Iqbal (Professor, SSE), led the engaging session, along with Maherul Azam Koreshi, Israfil Shaheen Arannya Jahidul Islam Nihal, and Mohammed Sadul Alam from the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) team.
The session aimed to introduce and promote this year's WRO to enthusiastic students from various schools, colleges, and universities. We were delighted by the incredible interest shown and are excited to arrange more workshops for these innovators in the coming days.

9 th May 2025 was a big day for SSE Alumni for IUB, Chittagong Campus and CIU. The CIU auditorium buzzed with the faculty members, officials, staff, and a vibrant mix of students from various batches (batch 99 - batch 20). The engineers from IUBCย to CIU gathered for a highly successful Engineers' Meetup.
It was truly inspiring to hear from our accomplished alumni, who shared valuable insights and suggestions. A key takeaway was the need for stronger bonds between recent alumni and the seniors since 1999. Many things were discussed, and one alumnus proposed an annual event to facilitate this essential networking.
This event highlighted the strong sense of community and commitment to student success that permeated the event. The presence of all faculty members, officials, and staff underscored the university's dedication to fostering these crucial connections within the engineering fraternity. Attendees expressed their eagerness for more such events, recognizing the immense value of these interactions.
TA significant highlight of the meet-up was the enthusiastic engagement of the alumni. They expressed a strong desire to actively support their juniors in navigating the challenges of higher studies and career development. Their willingness to share their experiences and offer guidance promises to be an invaluable resource for current students.
The suggestion put forth by an alumnus to establish an annual event focused on fostering stronger ties between students and seniors resonated deeply with attendees. Furthermore, the proposal to create a formal Engineers' Forum, with a tentative committee of five students already formed, signals a proactive step towards building a sustainable support network. The online participation of many students from different cornersย of theย world further broadened the reach and impact of the event. More than 50 alumni joined through an online platform from all over the world, where students from Australia, the UK, Canada, the USA, Sweden, and Belgium put their valuable comments/observations
This successful Engineers' Meetup at CIU not only facilitated valuable networking opportunities but also solidified the commitment of alumni to invest in the future of the engineering students. The eagerness for more such gatherings through physical presence and online platforms reflects the strong sense of unity and shared purpose within IUBC and the CIU engineering community.
The program was organized by the Dean office, School of Science and Engineering and led by Mr. Atiqur Rahman, Head, Department of CSE. Prof. Dr. Aseef Iqbal, Professor of CSE and Dr. Md. Sajjatul Islam, Associate Professor of CSE, discussed the various issues associated with the Departments and alumni. The program was ended by the closing remarks of the Dean of SSE, Dr. Rubell Sen Goopta.
On March 15, 2025, the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at Chittagong Independent University (CIU) organized a day-long workshop titled "Master Plan on BAC and BAETE Accreditation." The session was conducted by Prof. Md. Abdur Razzak, PhD, SMIEE, Fellow IEB, Fellow JSPS, who serves as the Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Independent University, Bangladesh.
During the workshop, Prof. Md. Abdur Razzak demonstrated Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices and assessment methods in alignment with the requirements of Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) and Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE). He addressed various challenges associated with OBE-based assessments and discussed potential solutions to overcome them, ensuring the attainment of Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), and Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) as per BAETE and BAC guidelines.
His presentation covered key aspects such as OBE-based curriculum design, teaching- learning methods, and assessment strategies. He also elaborated on model selection for PLO attainment calculation, course file preparation, CLO (direct) and PLO (direct) calculations, as well as PEO (indirect) assessment. Additionally, he discussed criteria and levels for CLO, PLO, and PEO attainment, instructor feedback review, preparation of the Course Review Report (CRR), and stakeholder surveysโincluding students, alumni, employers, and the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP)โfor continuous quality improvement (CQI).
The workshop encouraged active participation and proved highly beneficial for the esteemed faculty members of SSE. It concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants gained valuable insights into OBE-based curriculum practices in accordance with BAETE and BAC standards. The respected Dean of SSE and the Additional Director of IQAC, CIU, were also in attendance.
A special session on Software Design Patterns was successfully held on March 9, 2025, as part of the Software Engineering course. The session was conducted by Mr. Anisul Islam, a renowned Computer Science educator and Full-stack Trainer at Integrify, Finland.
The event took place in a hybrid mode, allowing wider participation. Students attended the session in person from the Multimedia Lab, CIU, while many others joined online via Zoom, making it a well-attended and interactive event. The session was also graced by the presence of Ms. Samia Muntaha, course instructor, and Mr. Habibur Rahman, faculty member, who actively participated and encouraged student engagement. During the session, Mr. Anisul Islam provided an in-depth discussion on Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, emphasizing core concepts such as Abstraction, Encapsulation, Inheritance, and Polymorphism. He elaborated on why design patterns are essential in software development and how they help in solving recurring design problems, ensuring code reusability, flexibility, and scalability. Mr. Anisul also introduced students to various types of software design patterns and shared real-world examples to demonstrate their practical applications. The session was highly engaging, with participants actively interacting and asking insightful questions. Students appreciated the clear and practical approach of Mr. Anisul in explaining complex software design concepts.
This session was an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their understanding of software design patterns, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation.
On February 14, 2025, the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at Chittagong Independent University (CIU) organized a workshop on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) titled "Hands- On Knowledge Sharing: OBE Practices and SAR Preparation." The session featured Dr. Muhammad Golam Kibria, SMIEEE, Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), as the key resource person. During the workshop, Professor Kibria provided a comprehensive overview of OBE, Key Performance Areas (KPA) (Cognitive, Psychomotor, and Affective) mapping, and Self- Assessment Report (SAR) preparation for accreditation by the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE). Professor Kibria demonstrated how to define Course Outcomes (COs) and map them to Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) set by BAETE. He also explained the process of selecting dominant courses through culmination to effectively achieve PLOs. The workshop encouraged active participation from esteemed SSE faculty members and concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing valuable insights into OBE practices and accreditation process.
On February 6, 2025, the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at Chittagong Independent University (CIU) organized a seminar titled "Machine Learning with Python." The event was hosted by the Institute of Information Technology and Industrial Research (IITIR) in collaboration with Skill-Zone, a professional IT skill development firm. The seminar was conducted by Mr. Maruf Ahmed, a Microsoft and Python- certified lead trainer at Skill-Zone. During the seminar, Mr. Maruf delivered an insightful presentation on the promising career opportunities available through proficiency in Python and Machine Learning (ML). He specifically emphasized the application of ML with Python in solving various real-world problems. Additionally, he explored different ML algorithms and their practical implementations. he seminar encouraged active participation and proved highly beneficial for the attending students. It concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students gained valuable insights into the practical applications of ML solutions in relation to career opportunities. The esteemed Dean of SSE, Director of IITIR, and respected faculty members of SSE were also present at the event. Additionally, Mr. Neaj Morshed, Founder and CEO of Skill-Zone, and Mr. Kaisar Sharif, Deputy Manager of Sales and Marketing at Skill-Zone, attended the seminar along with other distinguished guests.
On 9th January , 2025, Chittagong Independent University's School of Science and Engineering launched the year with its first major event, the "Career Buildup Program." The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers who inspired and motivated students. Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, Founder and Chairman of PHP, opened with an uplifting speech that energized the audience. Prof. Dr. Farzana Alam, Associate Dean of European University Bangladesh, followed with insights on inner engineering, emphasizing self-development for career success. The keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, delivered an engaging and interactive session, inspiring students to embrace creativity and innovation. Professor Dr.Taufique Sayeed of the CSE Department of Premier University highlighted the event's significance in shaping future leaders. The event concluded with Dr. Aseef Iqbal, professor of SSE expressing heartfelt gratitude to the speakers, underscoring the importance of mentorship. The Career Buildup Program left students motivated and ready to embark on their professional journeys. All the Faculty members including Dean and students of various departments joined this event.
