CIU Case Writing Center (CCWC)
At Chittagong Independent University, we believe that transformative education goes beyond theoretical learning. The ability to analyze real-world challenges, make informed decisions, and develop practical solutions is essential for preparing future leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and researchers. Recognizing this need, the CIU Case Writing Center (CCWC) has been established as a pioneering academic and research initiative dedicated to promoting case-based learning and indigenous knowledge development.
The center aims to create a vibrant ecosystem where faculty members, students, researchers, and industry professionals collaborate to develop high-quality teaching cases, business cases, policy cases, and social impact case studies reflecting the realities of Bangladesh and the global business environment.
Through this initiative, CIU aspires to bridge the gap between academic theories and practical applications by producing contextually relevant cases that encourage critical thinking, analytical capabilities, ethical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. The CCWC represents CIU’s commitment to advancing experiential learning, research excellence, and industry-academia collaboration.
CIU has recently signed an MoU with The Case Centre, located at the Cranfield University, UK; the world’s largest distributor of teaching cases. Under this partnership, the Case Centre, UK will offer mentorship to CCWC to emerge as a center of excellence in case writing and teaching.
Case-based learning helps students connect classroom knowledge with real-world decision-making scenarios. Through discussion, analysis, and problem-solving, students develop:
- Critical thinking abilities
- Communication and presentation skills
- Strategic decision-making capabilities
- Leadership and teamwork competencies
- Ethical and analytical reasoning
The approach transforms passive learning into an engaging and participatory educational experience.
Welcome to the CIU Case Writing Center (CCWC) of Chittagong Independent University (CIU).
In today’s rapidly changing academic and professional landscape, the importance of case-based
learning has become more significant than ever. The ability to analyze real-world situations, identify challenges,
evaluate alternatives, and make strategic decisions is essential for preparing future leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers,
and professionals. With this vision in mind, the CIU Case Writing Center (CCWC) has been established to promote experiential
learning, applied research, and indigenous knowledge creation through high-quality case development.
The center aims to create a dynamic platform where faculty members, students, researchers, and industry practitioners can collaborate to document practical experiences, organizational transformations, entrepreneurial journeys, and socio-economic challenges in the form of impactful teaching cases. We strongly believe that locally grounded cases can significantly enrich classroom learning and contribute to developing context-sensitive solutions for contemporary challenges.
At CCWC, we are committed to fostering a culture of critical thinking, analytical reasoning, creativity, and research excellence. Alongside developing teaching cases, the center will organize workshops, seminars, training programs, and collaborative initiatives to enhance the capacity of faculty members and students in case writing and case teaching methodologies.
As we move forward, the CIU Case Writing Center aims to become a leading hub for case-based research and experiential education in Bangladesh and beyond. We invite scholars, students, professionals, and organizations to work together with us in advancing this important initiative.
